Skyline Communications to Unveil Latest Version of DataMiner™ Network Management System at IBC2010.
Izegem, Belgium, 2 September 2010 - Skyline Communications, the global leader in end-to-end, multivendor network management solutions for the satellite, HFC broadband, broadcast, and IPTV industries, will introduce DataMiner™ 6.5 at IBC2010 — the latest version of the company’s award-winning network management system (NMS). This update significantly improves the operator’s ability to manage large, complex networks by introducing innovative UI technology and by further expanding the reach of the platform down to the subscriber home. With this extended reach, DataMiner is the first NMS platform in the industry capable of providing a complete end-to-end perspective for operators.

The DataMiner Cube™ UI, introduced as part of DataMiner 6.5, is the industry’s first interface based on user-centric design principles that enable time savings, convenience, and an overall reduction in costly errors. The Cube UI leverages the strong DataMiner data acquisition, processing, and presentation capabilities to provide a web-based, interface that enables the operator to navigate intuitively within even the most complex operational ecosystems. Among the many innovations offered by DataMiner Cube are user-definable drag and drop, intelligent searching, interactive scripting, and user-definable graphing. The system is also multi-touch-enabled for use on the latest generation of displays.
“We’ve designed the DataMiner Cube UI to make it simpler and more intuitive than ever before for an operator to truly own the enormous amount of data that resides within its network,” said Ben Vandenberghe, Skyline’s sales and marketing director. “As networks continue to grow in size and complexity operators need to be able to access and analyze the enormous amount of data quickly and accurately to make critical business decisions and keep customers happy.”
The DataMiner Cube UI also interfaces seamlessly with popular applications like Microsoft® Visio®, Excel®, and Word® to enable simple and consistent information updates that help prevent user errors that can occur during data re-entry.
To help operators manage their services and infrastructure more closely and accurately than ever before, DataMiner 6.5 includes the company’s latest advanced customer-premises equipment (CPE) manager. This highly innovative platform mines valuable data from every single CPE object within the network such as set-top boxes, cable and DSL modems, eMTAs, and more. DataMiner CPE Manager™ enables a detailed and precise look at every CPE element at speeds of many thousands of elements per second. At these speeds, DataMiner can evaluate the status of vast networks comprised of millions of CPEs in less than 15 minutes.
The speed and accuracy of this system, combined with its very unique real-time multidimensional correlation capabilities, enables DataMiner to locate the root-cause of any operational problem along the entire service delivery chain at the moment it happens, generating considerable operational savings and improved customer satisfaction.
“The wealth of data mined from the CPE ecosystem is instantly available to anyone within a client’s operation, across many functional areas,” Vandenberghe continued. “This adds tremendous value for our clients because the data can be used for day-to-day operations, customer support, capacity planning, marketing, and much more. For operators that deploy this platform, it quickly becomes one of their most strategic assets to drive their business.”
Release 6.5 also features updated DataMiner Service Management technology, enabling operators to efficiently manage services within their highly complex, multivendor ecosystems. The solution automatically analyzes the entire operational ecosystem, across vendor and technology boundaries, and generates services according to the user-defined business logic. Service management includes dynamic service tracking, real-time SLA tracking, MS Visio graphical service presentations, automated root-cause-analysis, and more. Operators managing digital headends, satellite links, terrestrial networks, MPLS networks, or service-quality monitoring solutions with transport stream analyzers and probes are among the users who will benefit from this latest innovation.
