DataMiner 2.3, breaking new barriers.

Izegem, Belgium – After the initial cutting-edge releases of DataMiner,Skyline Communications is proud to present the 2.3 release of DataMiner, which is the first monitoring and control solution, unleashing the full power of a distributed application. This advanced architecture makes it at the same time the most cost-effective and the most powerful solution.

“Our earlier releases primarily focused on resolving some key issues which seemed to be ironically enough characteristic for all competing solutions,” stated Ben Vandenberghe, sales director of Skyline Communications. “The principle issue to resolve was a smooth operation in a true multi-vendor environment. Today, we are extremely proud that DataMiner is the first monitoring solution, which can handle any proprietary interface, and in addition allows users to modify the drivers, or create new drivers from scratch, in a blink of an eye, without knowledge of any programming language. With those DataMiner drivers, the user can even compose the complete GUI for each individual proprietary device. A quality making our product also very appealing for our OEM partners. Secondly, we focused for those initial releases also on a thorough implementation of industry standards such as SNMP, and more specifically the emerging concepts of HMS. With DataMiner, from a NOC perspective it appears as if all devices have their own SNMP agent, including all the proprietary ones.”

“For this latest release we further optimized the existing software, but in close cooperation with our customer base we managed to throw in some additional advanced features, amongst which again impressive premiers for this industry,” added Bert Vandenberghe, software R&D manager of Skyline Communications. “Our hierarchical graphical interface, to display rack layouts, block diagrams, schematics, etc. is now compatible with the leading business diagramming solution, Microsoft’s Visio. Our customers can now simply upload their existing Visio diagrams and use them to display and navigate through their systems, the way they are used to do it. In addition, we added an extraordinary trend analysis module, which backtracks any parameter, presents data in an intuitive graph interface, calculates a set of statistical values and performs a true trend prediction. Also, a correlation engine has been added, including a highly user-definable knowledge base, to perform a true root cause analysis, significantly reducing the time-to-decision of the DataMiner operators. These are all logic consequences of our dedication to optimize the operations of our customers.”
