Record growth for DataMiner multi-vendor network management solutions.
Izegem, July 2005 – On the eve of the IBC 2005 exhibition, Skyline Communications announces a record growth for its DataMiner network management activities in Q1/Q2 of 2005. DataMiner continues to gain momentum as the leading vendor-independent monitoring and control solution for the HFC broadband, satellite and broadcast industry, and has been selected as the core platform for the management of various prestigious operational environments, including complex multi-vendor digital television platforms, satellite earth stations, HFC broadband headends and networks, broadcast facilities, data communications infrastructure, etc.
“The first half of 2005 has been generously exceeding our most optimistic expectations, with new customers signing up for our DataMiner technology, across various industry segments. An important highlight was the contract signed with Eutelsat, one of the world’s leading satellite operators, headquartered in Paris, to manage their entire earth station facilities. A contract which was very rewarding, not only because of the prestige, but also because DataMiner was once more lined up against the incumbent solutions in an exhaustive selection procedure, and once more emerged as the superior solution. Along with earlier high-profile contracts, such as Belgacom, it is a confirmation that DataMiner excels,” says Ben Vandenberghe, Sales and Marketing Director at Skyline Communications. “Also for example, Essent Kabelcom, the second largest HFC broadband operator in the Netherlands, selected DataMiner for the end-to-end management of their entire new digital television platform, similar in application to the earlier announced contract for Telenet, the largest Belgian operator. Aside form Eutelsat and Essent Kabelcom, other new deployments include for example WVEM and Integan from the Interkabel group, ALE Teledis and NetManagement, the leading HFC broadband operators in the South of Belgium, and BeTV or former Canal Plus Belgique.”
“An important observation is also the continued investment of our established customer base in DataMiner technology. The multi-vendor character of DataMiner and its flexibility to manage the most complex environments make it the ultimate tool to cost-efficiently manage any operational environment, and to further boost operational profit,” added Glenn D’Haene, Regional Sales Manager at Skyline Communications. “The latest 4.0 release of DataMiner, which was enthusiastically welcomed at our DataMiner Release Seminar in June by a large group of prominent industry leaders, continues to redefine the way today’s operational environments are managed. It includes, amongst various other features, dynamic service management. This technology enables DataMiner to run-time track the usage of device resources by services, and offers operators a true service perspective on their operations, enabling them to view real-time service impact and historical service performance. In the meanwhile our deployments exceeded 500 different third party drivers, including new additions for equipment from vendors such as Acterna, BigBand, Cisco, CPI, IneoQuest, Leitch, Pixelmetrix, Sandar, Scientific Atlanta, Scopus, Tandberg and more. This new exciting DataMiner 4.0 release will be showcased at IBC2005.”
