Eutelsat rides with DataMiner
Izegem, March 2006, Skyline Communications, leading supplier of multi-vendor network management solutions, announces that it has successfully completed an important contract with Eutelsat for the monitoring and control of the antenna park of the Rambouillet teleport, near Paris, France. DataMiner was selected by Eutelsat after an exhaustive selection procedure amongst the different network management solutions available in the industry, and after careful analyses of earlier accomplishments of those individual potential suppliers.
Eutelsat is the third world satellite operator providing capacity on 23 satellites, and broadcasting 1800 television channels and 900 radio stations to over 120 million cable and satellite homes in Europe, Africa and the Middle East. DataMiner, providing a single end-to-end umbrella management of the entire teleport facilities, will enable Eutelsat to improve its operational expenses while increasing even further the quality of its service offering, hence consolidating its leading position. Aside from the standard DataMiner package and engineering services, Eutelsat also opted for some of the advanced applications such as DMS Automation, DMS Correlation, DMS Reporting and DMS Mobile Gateway.
“After a careful study of the available solutions, it was obvious to us that DataMiner was the best fit to our needs. Not only did it meet the most stringent requirements for our initial projects, but its innovative approach on the subject of multi-vendor network management offers us significant added value for new projects, beyond what we had in mind in the first place,” commented Riccardo Bardelli, Director of Ground Network Engineering and Support Eutelsat. “Skyline Communications managed to supply a complete turn-key solution well within the allotted time frame, allowing us to further leverage our teleport facilities, and today we are already in an advanced stage of expanding the DataMiner technology into our other domains. Eutelsat has always been a forerunner, and DataMiner is one of those solutions that enables us to fulfil that tradition.”
“We are extremely proud of being able to supply our DataMiner technology to a world-class leading operator such as Eutelsat, and to contribute to their successes. Innovation has always been an important part of our strategy, and our continuous striving to enable our customers to get that extra competitive edge resulted in a rapidly growing market share for DataMiner. The innovative character was also recently confirmed with a selection as Best Network Management Solution of the Year 2005 at IBC in Amsterdam,” added Leo. Vandenberghe, Managing Director, Skyline Communications.
