IBC 2004, another milestone.

Izegem, September 2004 - On Tuesday 14th September 2004 IBC closed with a reported 12% increase in attendance and also Skyline Communications is pleased to look back at a very successful event, exceeding all expectations. An overwhelming interest was received from visitors active in the satellite, broadcast and HFC broadband industry for the DataMiner multi-vendor monitoring and control solutions, which evolved over the last years to become the industry benchmark for umbrella management. Already at the first day of the exhibition,DataMiner was picked up by the IBC Daily News, an article available via the link below.

“The broad interest from as well the satellite, broadcast as the HFC broadband industry illustrates the extreme flexibility of DataMinerto adapt to any multi-vendor environment, an essential feature to prevail in today’s rapidly converging markets. Deploying DataMiner not only means that you can rely on the most advanced solution currently available, but it is also a warranty that it will evolve along with your system, no matter what type of technology you will choose, and no matter which vendors you will choose to work with. No other solution has ever demonstrated such degree of flexibility,” commented Bert Vandenberghe, Software R&D Director at Skyline Communications. “At this IBC we specifically highlighted our DMS Spectrum Analysis solution, also an application appealing as well to the satellite industry for carrier performance monitoring for example, as to the HFC broadband industry for return path monitoring and forward path performance monitoring applications. The latter looked into by an increasing number of operators within the framework of the roll-out of new interactive digital television services.”

Also the more recently introduced iTap subscriber connection management solutions drew a lot of attention, and many HFC broadband operators are now effectively looking into driving down their operational expenses based on these unique solutions. “It doesn’t take too much time to figure out that this product, selected runner-up at the CSI 2004 Product of the Year Awards, with its unique 4-tier design outperforms any other addressable solution, and provides a significant larger and faster return on investment,” commented Didier Schepens, Regional Sales Manager at Skyline Communications. ”And after all, return on investment is the bottom line for this type of applications. But aside from this key innovation, our customers can enjoy the benefits from a unique system architecture, powered by an in-house developed software user front-end, called CeQuestra. Building on our knowledge and experience with the DataMiner monitoring and control solutions, we have succeeded in offering our customers the interfaces required to truly unleash that unique potential of the iTap. CeQuestra is also the pivot between iTap and the operational systems, such as billing platforms, exemplified by the recently announced integration with the Convergys ICOMS billing platform. And face it, you need such powerful tools to unleash that potential and to optimize the return on the investment.”
