Telenet selects DataMiner for its new iDTV platform.

Izegem, September 2004 - Skyline Communications, leading provider of advanced monitoring and control solutions, today announced that it has been awarded a contract by the principal Flemish cable network operator Telenet for the monitoring of its new, prestigious iDTV platform. The contract includes umbrella management of various devices from different vendors, the supply of professional services and optional software components for system automation, alarm event correlation and expert reporting, and is a continuation of earlier DataMiner deployments.

This contract re-affirms and further fortifies Skyline’s superior position in the field of vendor-independent monitoring and control solutions, and illustrates how multi-vendor solutions can effectively be managed via a single, comprehensive user interface, outperforming any other available solution.

“Telenet already deployedDataMiner in its 30 cable headends throughout Flanders, applying DMS Mobile Gateway to drive down the operational expenses for field engineering. This deployment rapidly resulted in the decision to use DataMiner for the monitoring and control of the optical headend equipment and optical nodes, supplied by different vendors. In addition, Q4 last year, Telenet acquired the pay-tv provider CanalPlusFlanders, whose multi-vendor platforms were already entirely managed by DataMiner,” commented Ben Vandenberghe, Sales Director at Skyline Communications. “The decision now to deploy DataMiner to manage the equipment involved in this prestigious project, a complete digital cable TV and nVOD (near Video On Demand) system, is another strong confirmation from this leading cable operator that DataMiner outperforms any competing solution. The overall solution will include interfacing with equipment from leading vendors such as Axon, Broadcast Technology, Leitch, Motorola, Philips, Scientific Atlanta, Tandberg Television and Zandar, illustrating the multi-vendor power of Skyline’s DataMiner platform. We were also extremely pleased with Telenet’s decision to apply some of our advanced applications for automation, correlation and reporting to further increase the quality of their service offerings.”
