2. Open XML-based Driver Format

DataMiner drivers are capable of interfacing with any manageable device, whether it has a standard management interface (e.g. SNMP) or a proprietary one. In addition, DMS drivers are modeled in an open, accessible XML format and thus can easily be edited by anyone, you yourself can edit/create drivers or you can rely on our extensive library of existing drivers and our professional engineering services.

3. Fully SNMP Compliant Solution

DataMiner offers you as well full SNMP Manager as SNMP Agent functionality. Each device managed by DataMiner including the proprietary ones, is assigned with a unique virtual IP address and an SNMP Agent to interface with any third party SNMP compliant management software. In other words, all devices managed by a DataMiner System, including the proprietary ones, are automatically converted to full SNMP compliant devices (including managed SNMP trap forwarding to multiple SNMP Managers, SNMP gets and SNMP sets).

With DataMiner in place, you can rest assured that no matter what devices you have deployed today, or will deploy in the future, from a TCP/IP network perspective your plant will appear fully SNMP compliant, keeping all your options open to deploy any SNMP compliant software tools and applications.

4. Distributed Architecture

In a DataMiner System (DMS) there is no central server, a DMS is defined as one or more DataMiner Agents (DMA) interconnected with a TCP/IP network. Each of the individual DMA's embodies a fully functional management system, capable of performing on its own. Multiple DMA's combined in a single TCP/IP network behave like a single entity so when a user accesses a DataMiner System he will see (provided he has the proper access rights) a complete overview of all devices managed by all DataMiner Agents in the system.
