DataMiner System
DataMiner is a unique, vendor-independent multi-vendor network management solution, with a pronounced open architecture, specifically designed for advanced management of earth stations, headends, backbones, datacenters, HFC networks, digital television platforms, satellite uplinks & downlinks etc. It is the first software platform capable of unconditionally interfacing with any third party device, including any proprietary interfaces. Today over 1750 drivers have been deployed for devices supplied by over 300 different industry vendors. Moreover, these drivers are designed in an open XML format, so that anybody can create new drivers, or modify existing drivers. For any proprietary interface, DataMiner will also provide a seamless conversion to SNMP, such that any device can be interfaced with any third party SNMP compliant software application.
DataMiner offers unlimited client web access, such that the monitoring environment can be accessed from any location, with a standard PC. The intuitive graphical interfaces provide comprehensive features for real-time data, trend analysis, alarm management, notification, etc. DataMiner features also a powerful graphical user interface to dynamically present the system in rack diagrams, floor plans, schematics, etc. with drawings based on standard Microsoft® Visio® drawings.
In addition to the standard functionality, DataMiner offers advanced applications for
automation,
scheduling,
event correlation,
reporting,
access via mobile phones and
spectrum analysis.
DMS Spectrum Analysis allows integration of any third party spectrum analysis devices, and provides real-time remote interfacing, script-based performance monitoring, trend analysis, thumbnail confidence monitoring and more. DMS Report Creator is a web based reporting engine, providing a wealth of graphs, and capable of intelligently distributing reports by e-mail, based on a time schedule or triggered by system events.
The latest versions of DataMiner also standard include the new DMS Service capabilities, which allow operators to manage their technical infrastructure from an intuitive service-based perspective, rather than the more common, but less transparent device-centric approach. This new feature of DataMiner allows operators to assess the impact of device events much faster, to strive for optimal availability of services, and to closely follow-up on service level agreements.
Confidence monitoring solutions are indispensable for operators that are dedicated to succeed, and Skyline recognized that by adding also vendor-independent video thumbnail monitoring capabilities to its DataMiner framework. These capabilities provide the operators with a fully integrated solution to visually verify the content of video services at any point in the operational environment.
DataMiner is currently deployed by world-class operators such as Eutelsat, Belgacom, ntl:, Telenet, Essent Kabelcom, Globecast, etc. allowing them to capture their entire operations, independent of the vendors selected for the individual components, in a single screen, and to optimize the return of their investments.
